After almost 12 months of debate, a regional council has come to a decision regarding a basketball court that has divided a community.
- Capel shire decides to remove a basketball court and replace it with a new one
- The removal and re-build is expected to cost more than $18,000
- The new court will be built 200 metres from the current site
Capel Shire Council has narrowly voted to remove the court in Dalyellup, 180 kilometres south of Perth, due to continued noise complaints from residents.
The court on Daablone Vista will be relocated to Beach Park, about 200 metres away at the end of Norton Promenade.
The work is expected to cost more than $18,000.
Shire President Michael Southwell said despite the proximity, the council was confident the new court would not cause similar issues.
"It's far enough away from houses that we won't have to worry about similar complaints in the future," he said.
